<br />MINUTES OF' THE ORANGE COU4iTY C~~n ~::• "r- PAGF ~Jr~' <br />BOARD OF' CDMMISSIDNER3 ` <br />April 26, 1971 <br />The Orange County Board of Commtsaionera met in adjourned joint session <br />with the Orange County Board of Education at 8 o~clock P,M, on Monday, April <br />26, 1971, in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North <br />Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C, <br />Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and Norman Walker. _- - <br />Members Absent: None <br />George Williams, Scheel Superintendent, Roy Deal, Assistant Superintendent, <br />and Board members Oscar Compton, Belton Edwards and Roger Marshall were also <br />present. <br />It ,was brought to the attention cf the group that the term oP T. T. Gobbel <br />on the ABC Board would soon expire. <br />IIpon motion of Commissioner Henry Walker, seconded bq Sahodl..Board member <br />Roger Marshall, it wsa mayed and adopted, that S, T. Gobbel be re-appointed as <br />a member of the Orange County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for a term of <br />three yerars and that the new term is to commence at the expiration of his <br />current term. <br />Roger Marshall stated that the County Board oP Education had recently <br />received bide on the following projects: <br />Buildin ~ <br />~S Initial Cost Estimate Actual Bid <br />School Bus Garage $ 90,000.00 <br />Gymnasium $32s,ooo.ao 396,000.00 <br />Administration Building 125,000.00 ~OOO.Op <br />.- Total Cost <br />$ 631,000.00 <br />Funds Preaentlq Available $ 360,000.00 ~ <br />Needed to Complete Projects $ 271,000.00 i <br />I <br />Mr. Marshall inquired as to the possibilitq oP an estimated budget total <br />for the forthcoming calendar gear. Chairman Bennett advised the group that at ~, <br />present it would be impossible to determine anq forthcoming budget allocations ' <br />as the General Assembly must decide on various aspects of School and Social ~ <br />3ervic® items. Further disouasion ensued. ' <br />i <br />The County Administrator requested the Hoard tc exempt Orange County from <br />the provisions of House Bill 81 as this bill requires the issuance oP a <br />CkiiTIFICATE OF EKISTSNC$ OF ALL LIENS HELD BY EITHER COUNTX OR MUNICIPALITY <br />and that the issuance of this certificate bars colleotion in the event that an <br />error is made by the issuing officer, ii <br />I <br />Upon motion oP Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner William, i <br />C. Rap, it wsa moved and adopted that the Board reoueat Representative Carl I <br />M. Smith to exempt Orange County Prom the provisions of House Bill 81. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned. j <br />Harvey D.
