Smith, Chairman <br />3, M, Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINCTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTX <br />BOA1?D OF COMMSSSIOidERS <br />March 2!}, 1970 <br />The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session at 3 P. M. <br />on Tuesday, March 2Ja.', 1970, in the Assembly Room of the Carrboro Town Hall, in <br />Caxrbaro, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Carl M, Smith, and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, <br />William C. Rap and Henry S, Walker. <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Tra A. Ward, <br />This meeting was held in conjunction with representatives of the U. S, Soil <br />& Water Conservation Service and was called for the purpose of discussing the <br />possibility of constructing three additional lakes which would serve as a small <br />water shed and flood control project near the University Lake area. The Conservation _ <br />Service Agent stated that some preliminary study had been conducted and, on the <br />basis of this preliminary study, it was felt that a detail study of such water shed <br />project was warranted, however, the Conservation Service would want the approval <br />of all the Local Governmental units before they proceeded to move further with the <br />proposed project. <br />Chairman Smith advised the assembled group that he, would arrange a meeting for <br />ell interested governmental agenoiea for the purpose of pursuing the proposal. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned. <br />Carl M.
