Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />January 15, 1968 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, <br />met in adjourned session at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, January 152 1968 in the <br />Aldermans room at the Chapel Hill Town Hall. <br />Members present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William <br />C. Ray, Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Present also were Fred Cates, Mayor Town of Hillsborough; members of <br />the Hillsborough Town Board, Clerk for the Town of Hillsborough; the Water <br />Department Superintendent of the Town of Hillsborough; Chairman of the County <br />Planning Board; L. E. Beard, Town Board Consultant; and Lucius M. Cheshire, <br />Attorney for the Town of Hillsborough and the County of Orange. <br />Chairman Bennett advised the meeting that Fiber Industries, Inc. was <br />desirous of securing a water committment of 1,000,000 gallons of water per <br />day to their proposed plant site. This requested water agreement was made <br />to the County. Chairman Bennett stated that in order to supply the water <br />requested by Fiber Industries, Inc. the cost of said project would be: <br />Water Plant Improvement 250,000.00 <br />Water Line Construction 500,000.00 <br />It was the opinion of those persons in attendance that every effort <br />should be made to furnish the requested 1,000,000 gallons of water per day to the <br />proposed plant site. <br />Discussion ensued as to what arrangements or proposals could be instituted <br />in order to supply the needed water. The members of the Hillsborough Town <br />Board voted to commit the Town of Hillsborough to raising the necessary funds <br />in order to expand the present Hillsborough water plant facilities to the <br />capacity necessary to provide water to the proposed Fiber Industries, Inc. <br />plant site. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker it was unanimously adopted that <br />Orange County advise Fiber Industries, Inc. that the County does commit <br />itself to the industries request of providing 1,000,000 gallons of water <br />per day to the plant site by March, 1970. ` _. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting <br />was -adjourned. <br />Harvey D.
