<br />Chairman Bennett received the petition and directed the County Administrator <br />to have the County Attorney review said petition and advise the Board of Commissioners <br />as to the necessary legal steps involved concerning the enactment of said petition. <br />The following road petitions were received and the Clerk was advised to forward <br />same to the State Highway Commission: <br />Murray Avenue, West Hillsborough, N. C. <br />SE #1338 <br />Tom Ward, Director of Welfare, requested the Board to authorize a transfer of <br />$7,000.00 County Funds from the OAA Program to the AFDC Program. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Walker, it was moved and unanimously <br />adopted that the Director of Welfare be authorized to make the above requested <br />transfer of County Funds from the OAA Program to the AFDC Program, <br />The Welfare Department was also authorized to employ under the PACE Program <br />two students for summer work at a salary of $110.00 each. . <br />Thomas A. Rose, Engineer for the Lake Orange Project, reported that bids could <br />be opened on July 6,1967 for said project. Mr. Rose was directed to take the <br />necessary steps to secure bids for the Lake Orange Project. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Smith, it"was moved <br />and unanimously adopted, that Wallace Williams of Chapel Hill and W. S. Ivey of <br />Chapel Hill be re-appointed as members of the Chapel Hill Board of Adjustments for a <br />three year term which will run consecutive to their present terms which expires on <br />June 30, 1967. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Ward, and <br />unanimously adopted, T. B. Speller,_$epresentative of the Aiwanis Club of Chapel Hill, <br />was authorized to hold a fireworks display in the vicinity of Fetzer Field on <br />July 4, 1967. <br />The following persons were appointed as members of the Building Committee to <br />investigage plans for a County Welfare building. They were: Harvey D. Bennett, <br />William Ray, S. M. Gattis and Tom Ward. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, June 7, 1967 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the <br />Courtroom of the Courthouse with the County Planning Board. <br />Harvey D. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />June 7, 1967 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina met in <br />adjourned session in the Courtroom at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, N. C, with <br />the County Planning Board on June 7, 1967 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and.Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />The purpose of this meeting was to discuss with the County Planning Board <br />amendments relative to the Chapel Hill Township Zoning ordinance which had been <br />previously reviewed at the public hearings held on May 30, 1967 and June 1, 1967. <br />The Planning Board recommended that the Board of Commissioners amend the current <br />zoning ordinance in the following manner; to authorize the sale of one-half (15) <br />acre lots in subdivisions that were established prior to the effective date of the <br />current zoning ordinance, provided that a plat is of record showing designated <br />streets and also provided that if a substantial number of lots,in these sub- <br />divisions, had been sold. <br />BOOK 6 PAGE 609 <br />Minutes of the June 5, 1967 meeting continued <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Smith, it was moved, <br />that the following amendment, classified as section 9.3, be adopted:
