MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOOK 6 FACE 608 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />June 1, 1967 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in the Courtroom in <br />the Courthouse in Hillsborough at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 1, 1967, in joint <br />adjourned session with the County Planning Board. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members absent: Commissioner Carl M. Smith. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to continue the adjourned public hearing <br />commenced on Tuesday, May 30, 1967. <br />For a detail account of the business transacted at this hearing you are hereby <br />referred to the minutes of the Orange County Planning Board prepared for this meetinc <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said hearing was <br />adjourned. <br />Harvey D. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />June 5, 1967 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina met in <br />regular session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, the regular <br />place of meeting, at 10:00 h1clock A.M., on June 5, 1967. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />The minutes of the previous meetings were read by S. M. Gattis, Acting Clerk, <br />and approved by the Board. <br />Gordon Battle, Attorney from Chapel Hill, presented the following petition which <br />had been signed by residents of Eno Township. <br />"TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ORANGE COUNTY: <br />May 26, 1967 <br />We, the undersigned free holders of Eno Township, Orange County, North Carolina <br />respectfully request the Board of-County Commissioners to extend the operation of the <br />Orange County Zoning Ordinance from Chapel Hill Township to include Eno Township. <br />NAME ADDRESS ACRES" <br />Mr. Battle stated that additional copies of said petition were in circulation and <br />would be filed with the Board of Commissioners at a later date. He stated further <br />that said petition was being sponsored by.the Eno Township citizens because they were <br />concerned about the possibility of the reopening of a rock quarry located in said <br />township. The petitioners, according to Mr. Battle, were aware that the current <br />zoning ordinance would not prohibit the operations of this quarry, however, they felt <br />that zoning would help control some of the objectable features connected with said <br />quarry. <br />Mrs. Carl Zener, Mrs. Marion Sands and T. H. Antrim were present and spoke in <br />behalf of said petition. <br />Chairman Bennett received the petition and advised Mr. Battle that the Board of <br />Commissioners would take said matter under advisement. <br />George Spranzy of Dogwood Acres in Chapel Hill Township presented a petition <br />signed by residents of his area. <br />Hezekiah Dodson, Chief Sanitarian for the District Health Department, stated <br />that the Health Department approved of this petition.
