C. <br />1967 at 8:00 P.M. On Thursday, March 13, <br />. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Carl M. Smith, Ira A. Ward and Henry S. Walker. <br />Members Absent: None <br />The County Accountant presented the following petition from <br />(City Board of Education: the Chapel Hill <br />"The Chapel Hill City Board of Education met at Superintendent's Office, in <br />Chapel Hill North Carolina, the usual place of meeting, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., on <br />March 6, 1967, in Regular session. <br />Present: Mr. Grey Culbreth, Chairman, and Mr. Edwin Tenney, Mr. Ben Perry, Mrs <br />Mary Scroggs, Dr. Richard Peters, Dr. Fred Ellis, Dr. Roy Lindahl. <br />Absent: None." <br />"Mrs. Mary Scroggs, Member, introduced the following resolution which was read: <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF <br />ORANGE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL FACILITIES IN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Chapel Hill City Board of Education: <br />Section 1. The Chapel Hill Board of Education has determined and found as a <br />fact that adequate school facilities are not now available in The Chapel Hill City <br />Administrative Unit to comply. with the requirements of Section 3 of Article IX of th <br />Constitution of North Carolina for the maintenance of schools six months in every <br />year, and that it is necessary, in order to maintain such six months.' school term as <br />required by said Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution, to erect additional <br />school buildings and other school plant facilities, remodel, enlarge and reconstruct <br />existing school buildings and other school plant facilities and acquire necessary <br />land and equipment therefore, in order to provide additional school facilities in <br />said Unit, the estimated cost of such additional school facilities being $2,000,000.( <br />take alltnecessaryhsteps,Board byftheCommissioners <br />ofobonds orCount <br />otherrwise ,in order that requested <br />may be provided for such school facilities. <br />fund.- <br />.
