452 <br />The Clerk to the Board was authorized to execute the following Resolution: <br />RESOLUTION BY ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />"WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners by resolution dated September 7, <br />1965, recorded in Minute Book 6, page 410-412 and amended by reaaiution"dated- <br />Apri1 14, 1966,'recorded in Minute Book 6, page 440, created a Planning Board for <br />Orange County, North Carolina, which is vested with the authorities and powers <br />granted by G. S. 153-9 (40); and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Planning Board, by resolution dated <br />1966, has determined that an official comprehensive plan for the future development <br />of water and sewer systems in Orange County, North Carolina, should be prepared and <br />desires to contract with the firm of Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission <br />for the preparation of such a plan; and <br />WHEREAS, neither the Orange County Planning Board nor the Board of County <br />Commissioners has available funds which can be used for the cost of the preparation <br />of such a plan but may be able to obtain a grant of funds to be used for this <br />purpose from the Farmers Home Administration, an agency of the United States <br />Department of Agriculture. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />1. That the Board of County Commissioners join with the Orange County <br />Planning Board in applying to the Farmers Home Administration for a grant to be <br />used for the purpose of paying the cost of the preparation of the plan. <br />2. That the Board of County.Commissioners join with the Orange County Plannin <br />Board in entering into a grant agreement with the Farmers Home Administration, and <br />the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners is hereby authorized and directed <br />to execute such agreement for and on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners. <br />3. That the Board of County Commissioners join with the Orange County Plannin <br />Board in a contract with Research Triange Regional Planning Commission for the <br />preparation of the plan and the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners is <br />hereby authorized and directed to execute the contract for and on behalf of the <br />Board of County Commissioners." <br />Dr. Hubert Patterson presented his Medical Examiner's Report to the Board. <br />Sim Efland of Eland, North Carolina, appeared before the Board to request <br />that SR #1144, which is to be paved, be straightened at its intersection with the <br />Buckhorn Road. Mr. Efland stated that the present plans of the State Highway <br />Commission proposed to follow the old road bed, and that this in his opinion, would <br />create a hazzardous traffic situation. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Walker, it was <br />moved and unanimously adopted that, the Clerk to the Board inform the State <br />Highway Commission of Mr. Efland's request and to inform the State Highway <br />Commission that the Board agreed with Mr. Efland in his request for the <br />straightening of SR #1144. <br />There being no further business to come before the meeting same was <br />adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, June 21, 1966 at 10:00 A.M. in the Commissioner: <br />room at the courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Harvey D. Bennett <br />Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />June 21, 1966 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met at ten o'clock a.m. in special <br />session on Tuesday, June 21, 1966, in the Commissioners room at the courthouse in <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Henry S. Walker and Gordon B. Cleveland. <br />Members absent: Commissioner Carl M. Smith.
