M. 0attis, Acting Clerk <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />June 1, 1965 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Tuesday, June 1, 1965, <br />at 3:30 p.m., in the office of the Superintendent of the Chapel Hill City Schools, with members of <br />the Chapel Hill School Board. <br />Members present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. <br />?.ay, Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to consider the bids for the new Chapel Hill High School. <br />After a tabulation of the bids and alternates and consideration of available funds in the hands <br />of the School District, it was discovered that the Chapel Hill Unit would need about $200,000.00 of <br />local money to complete this project. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Smith, and unanimously adopted, <br />the Board agreed to appropriate to the Chapel ?sill School Unit, in category 68, at least $200,000.00 <br />in the 1965--1966 fiscal year. <br />Chairman Bennett was then requested by the Chapel Hill School Board to give them a letter setti: <br />out the intentions of the Board as stated in the previous motion, so that they can present said letter <br />to the State Board of Education.
