3Se <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Conomiesioaer Walker, and unanimously adopted, <br />quenton Patterson, District Soil Conservation Agent, was authorised to proceed with a request for a <br />survey of certain areas of the County to determine the feasibility of a water shed district in this <br />area. <br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously adopted that the Orange County Legislators have Orange <br />County added to the list of comities that can levy ad valorem tax for soil and water conservation <br />districts. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board,Said meeting was adjourned. <br />Harvey D. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />April 22, 1965 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Thursday, April 22, 1965, <br />at 8:00 o'clock p.m., in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. . <br />Members Present: Chairman Harwey•D. Bennett, Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. <br />Fay, Henry S. walker and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the possibility of having legislation passed to <br />permit the Chapel Hill Board of Education to -deed land to U. N. C. for an experimental child devel- <br />opment center. <br />Grey Culbreth and Dr. Halbertlbbinson. were present and gave an explanation of the proposal. <br />Upon motion of Commisaioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ray, the following resolution <br />was unanimously adopted: The Board of County Commissioners approves the introduction of legislation <br />to enable the Chapel Hill Board of Education to 'deed to the University of North Carolina land for <br />the construction of a child development center. <br />Sheriff Knight reported the details of an automoblie accident in which one of his Deputies <br />was involved. Damage to the County car was $800.00. The Board directed the Accountant to call for <br />bids on a new car to replace the damaged one. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. <br />Harvey D.
