The Workgroup of 10 <br />comprised of Town of Carrboro representatives, friends' group, elected officials, and Orange <br />County library staff members began meeting in November 20, 2004 and met monthly through <br />March 2004. Carrboro Mayor Pro Tem Diana McDuffee serves as Chair for this Workgroup, <br />The results of these meetings are presented at this time as the final report to the members of <br />the Board. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Workgroup recommends an increase in a total amount of <br />$17,000,00 in the Carrboro Library budget in FY2004-05 to cover extended hours for McDougle, <br />additional compensation for the technology support, additional janitorial services, and related <br />expenses. (This recommendation can be addressed by the BOCC during the course of the <br />normal budget process this spring, If funded, the BOCC would also need to approve a <br />modification in the current contract far operation of the Carrboro Library at McDougle.) <br />The Workgroup also recommends moving forward with implementation of the Gybrary in the <br />Carrboro Century Center for which the BOCC has already approved funding in this fiscal year in <br />the amount of $46,000,00, <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the final report <br />and refer to the Library Services Task Force. <br />
