<br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Monday, July 27, 1964, <br />at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Commissioners Room in the_Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.,-to consider <br />the. 196h--196$ County Budget for final adoption. <br />Members present: Chaizman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, <br />Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />Representatives of the Orange County School System and the Chapel Hill School System were <br />present and asked to be heard before the final budget was adopted. <br />Howard Thompson, Superintendent of the Chapel Hill School System, made a lengthy request <br />for reinstatement in the capital outlay budget the sum of $131,200.00 for the construction of an <br />addition to the Carrboro School. <br />G. P. Carr, Superintendent of the Orange County School System, requested that $72,000.00, <br />in addition to the sum previsouly requeated be allocated to the County unit for the completion of <br />the Stanback School. <br />These requests were discussed and received due consideration, but no action was taken. <br />APPROPRIATION RESOLUTION <br />To implement decisions reached by the Board in its budgetary discussions the following appropriation <br />resolution was introduced by Commissioner Smith. <br />For the Bond Fund the sum of $ 14,300.00 <br />For the General Fund the sum of 377,730.00 <br />For the Property Revaluation Fund the sum of 20,000.00 <br />For the Public Health Fund the sum of 47,500.00 <br />For the School Current Expense the sum of 400,100.00 <br />For the School Capital Outlay the sum of 543,800.00 <br />For the School Debt Service the sum of 302,000.00 <br />For the General Welfare Fund the sum of 145,956.00 <br />For the Aid to Families with Dependent <br />Children the sum of 22h,357-00 <br />For the Aid to Permanently and Totally <br />Disabled the sum of 122,240.00 <br />For the Medical Aid to the Aged the sum of 23,720.00 <br />For the Old Age Assistance the sum of 149,850.00 <br />Total Appropriation <br />,371, 3.00 <br />The Total appropriation for School Current Expense shall be divided as follows: <br />County Unit per capita $194,012.00 <br />County Unit birect 31,588,00 <br />Chapel Hill Unit Per Capita 17h,500.00 <br />Total 6r, 0000 <br />The total appropriation for School Capital Outlay shall be divided as follows: <br />County Jnit $145,000.00 <br />Chapel Hill Unit 198,800.00 <br />Building Fund 200,000.00 <br />Total 3 <br />This motion received a second from commissioner Walker and when a vote was called there were <br />5 ayes and 0 noes. <br />To finance the appropriation just recorded the fallowing tax levy resolution was intro duced by <br />Commissioner Bennett. <br />There shall be levied for the purposes listed below the following county property tax on the <br />$100.00 property valuation. <br />For the Bond Fund $ .0118 <br />."
