Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />E. M. Lynch, Clerk of Court; Betty June Hayes, Register of Deeds; Cashe Boggs, Dog Warden; and <br />G. Paul Carr, Superintendent of Schools each presented his budget request to the Board. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />July 15, 1964 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Wednesday, July 15, 1964, <br />at 8:00 o'clock P.M., in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. <br />Members Present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, <br />Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />Consideration was given to the 1964--1965 budget and the 1964 tax rate. After considerable <br />discussion, the 'Board decided that the tax rate would be $1.12 per hundred-. The County Accountant <br />was directed to draw an appropriation resolution placing into effect the various budgetary allocations <br />approved by the Board, and, also to draw a tax levy resolution setting the 1964 tax rate at $1.12 per <br />hundred.. These resolutions are to be presented for adoption at a meeting of the Board to be held <br />July 27, 1964, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously adopted, <br />the Board requested that the County Board of Education have the plans for the proposed Stanback School <br />re-worked to reduce the cost of same to an amount closer to the amount available. <br />The Board instructed the clerk tow rite the County Board of Education and request that the <br />White Cross School property receive adequate care and maintenance while it is not in use. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously adopted, <br />the Board decided to re-activate the Heyman Committee to study school construction needs through-1970. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned to meet <br />again at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on July 27, 1964. <br />Donald Stanford <br />Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />S.
