A. Burton, Division Engineer, presented each Commissioner with a copy of said program and <br />the program was discussed road by road. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Smith, the North Carolina State <br />Highway 1964-1965 Secondary Road Program for Orange County was unanimously adopted. <br />Brady Durham, Charlie Atwater and John H. Williams, representatives from the White Cross <br />Community, talked with Mr. Burton concerning Road #1951. Said road had not been included in the <br />road program for the past year, and the representatives requested that paving of said road to <br />the Chatham County line be included in the 1964-1965 program. Mr. Burton guaranteed consideration <br />of said road for the coming year. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and unanimously <br />adopted, Wesley Wallace of Dogwood Acres was named to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Ray Burns on <br />the Chapel Hill Planning Board. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. <br />a See below for addition to these minutes. <br />Donald Stanford, Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />June 27, 1964 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, June 27, 1964, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., <br />the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C., to consider the proposed 1964-1965 <br />Members Present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, <br />Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />Members of the County Board of Education and G. Paul Carr, Superintendent, were present and <br />iiscussed with the Board a proposed 1964-1965 budget for the County School System. <br />At the conclusion of this discussion, the meeting was adjourned. <br />Donald Stanford, Chairman <br />3etty June Hayes, Clerk <br />3. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />June 19, 1964 <br />The Board discussed with Mr. Burton petitions which had been filed for Lakewood Drive, Collins <br />Avenue, and Jones Street (West Hill Elementary School) and Rogers Drive and Lawrence Road Extention. <br />Mr. Burton stated that these petitions would be ceconsidered after further investigation and that the <br />Board would be notified of the Highway Commission's decision.
