332 <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />January 20, 1964 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, January 20, 1964; <br />at 10:00 o'clock A.M., at the Orange County Savings and Loan Building in Chapel Hill, N. C. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, <br />Carl M. Smith, and Henry, S. Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />This special session was called for the purpose of an inspection tour in conjunction with <br />Associated Surveys, as this company is now in the process of conducting a re-evaluation program in <br />Orange County. <br />Prior to hearing from Associated Surveys, Chairman Stanford reported that the Durham-Orange <br />Medical Society had formally recommended-to him the name of Dr. Hubert Patterson as a candidate for <br />Orange County medical examiner. The Board agreed that they would formally approve the nomination of <br />Dr. Patterson at their next regular meeting on February 3, 196h. Chairman Stanford directed the clerk <br />to inform State Health Director, Dr. J. W. R. Norton of the intentions of the Board to take formal <br />action on this appointment. <br />W. F. Hester of Associated Surveys reported the progress his company was making on the <br />re-appraisal work in the county. The Board began an inspection tour of some of the areas in which <br />the re-appraisal work had been completed. The Board voiced general approval of the results of this <br />work, but withheld final approval pending additional inspections of other properties. <br />The Board directed the Tax Supervisor to arrange another tour for sometime after February, <br />15, 1964s for the purpose of further inspection of the re-appraisal work. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. <br />Donald Stanford <br />Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />S.
