<br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Wednesday,
<br />July 10, 1963, at 11 o'clock a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the courthouse in
<br />Hillsboro, N. C.
<br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett,
<br />Gordon Cleveland, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker.
<br />Members absent: None
<br />James G. W. MecLamroc, Highway Commissioner, T. A. Burton, Divisional
<br />Engineer, Paul Welch, Assistant Divisional Engineer, Earl Hoover, District Engineer,
<br />and C. I. Walters, County Maintance Supervisor, of the State Highway Commission,
<br />were present and presented to the Orange County Board of Commissioners the proposed
<br />1963-1964 secondary road program.
<br />Mr. MacLamroc explained that Orange County would have available for this
<br />fiscal year the sum of $267,876.00 which would be expended on the secondary road
<br />program. In addition to this amount, $100,000.00 had been allocated from a special
<br />fund of the State Highway Department for specific projects not included in the
<br />proposed 1963-1964 secondary road program.
<br />The total amount of mileage being received for this yearts program included
<br />5.8 miles of paving and 10.9 miles of stablization.
<br />Discussion ensued concerning the proposed road program. Upon motion of
<br />Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, and unanimously adopted,
<br />the proposed 1963-1964 secondary road program for Orange County, as presented by
<br />the representatives of the State Highway Commission, was adopted.
