:313 <br />The Board had requested that the Coroner, Allen Walker, Jr .j be present at <br />their meeting on June 3rd for the purpose of further discussing with Mr. Welker <br />and any other interested persons the present Coroner's System. <br />Allen Walker, Sr, and Allen Walker, Jr, appeared and.expressed their opinions <br />concerning the Coroner's System and the Medical Examiner's System. A discussion <br />ensued following the Walker's presentation. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and <br />unanimously adopted, the per diem of the Coroner was to be raised 20%. This raise <br />is to become immediately effective. <br />The following schedule of special meetings was adopted: <br />1. June 10th at 10 a.m. meet with the District Highway Commission <br />2. June 17th at 7 p.m. to commence a study of the 1963-1964 budget <br />3. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />Donald Stanford <br />Chairman <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />June 10, 1963 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, <br />June 10, 1963, at 10 o'clock a.m. in the Commissioners room at the courthouse in <br />Hillsboro, N. C. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey D, Bennett, <br />Gordon Cleveland, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. Members absent none. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to discuss with officials of the Highway <br />Department the proposed secondary roe'd program for the coming year. <br />The Board was notified by officials of the Highway Department that this <br />meeting had been cancelled, <br />Jessie Trowbridge, Home Demonstration Agent, reported that she and her <br />district agent recommended Mrs. Louise Reckenwold as a replacement for Mrs. <br />Frances Denek. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Welker, and <br />unanimously adopted, Mrs. Reckenwold was employed as Assistant Home Demonstration <br />Agent. The salary to be the same as that presently being paid Mrs. Denek. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meet again on <br />Monday, June 17th. <br />S. M. C. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, <br />Gordon Cleveland, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />The purpose of this meeting was to commence study of the 1963-1964 budget. <br />Dr. Howard Thompson, Supt, of the Chapel Hill School Unit, and members of <br />the Board of Trustees of said Unit presented the 1963-1964 Current Expense and <br />Capital Outlay requests. The Current Expense request for $178,247.00 is a per capita <br />request of $42.00 based upon an enrollment of 4,247 students.
