CHCCS Elementary#9 <br /> Construction Capital Project Ordinance <br /> PURPOSE: To receive an update on CHCCS Elementary School #9 and allocate <br /> November 2001 bond funds for the Design and Construction Phase of the new school <br /> (including site work, construction and associated start-up costs), in accordance with <br /> Commissioner approved Policy on Planning and Funding School Capital Projects. <br /> BACKGROUND: On February 21, 2002, the CHCCS Board of Education approved a <br /> single prime contract bid award to Resolute Building Company to construct Elementary <br /> School #9 at Meadowmont. The base amount of the bid totaled $10,830,000. With the <br /> acceptance of twelve alternates, the total contract price is $10,921,250. This bid included <br /> costs for site work/grading and construction of the school. CHCCS has requested that the <br /> BOCC approve an amended capital project ordinance for Elementary #9 that will bring the <br /> anticipated final CHCCS/County cost for the project to $12,560,784. The November 2001 <br /> school bond referendum included $12.8 million for construction of Elementary #9. <br /> In November 2000, the Board of Commissioners approved a Policy on Planning and <br /> Funding School Capital Projects. That policy identifies two levels of school construction <br /> projects — Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 projects are those projects that have a relatively <br />
