230 <br />Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />June 22, 1961 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday, June 22, 1961 at <br />7:30 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the 1961-62 budget session. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, <br />Clarence D. Jones, Donald McDade-and Henry Walker, <br />Members absent: None <br />The following persons were heard from: <br />Mr. Joseph Johnston Supt. of the Chapel Hill School adminstrative <br />unit presented the requested budget for that agency. Rev. J. R. <br />Manley, a member of the Chapel Hill administrative unit's school <br />board along with Mrs. Ross Scroggs and Dr. Peters, members elected <br />to that board, were also present to assist Dr. Johnston with his <br />presentation. <br />The Board arranged to have the Welfare Board present their budget on Tuesday <br />evening the 27th, at 7:30 o'clock p.m.. <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:00 o'clock p.m. <br />Donald Stanford, Chairman <br />S. Gattis, Acting Clark <br />Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />June 27, 1961 <br />The Orange County Bea rd of Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 27, 1961 <br />at 7:30 o'clock p.m, in joint session with the County Boord of Public Welfare, in <br />the Commissioners room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. The pu.'rpose of this <br />meeting was to discuss the 1961-62 budget session. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, <br />Clarence D. Jones, Donald McDade and Henry Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />The following fluids were discussed. <br />Welfare General <br />Old Age Assistance <br />Aid to Dependent Children <br />Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled <br />During the discussion the new salary schedule for Welfare workers was <br />mentioned and the Welfare Board advised the Commissioners they felt that one <br />step below the normal range should be adopted as the pay plan for this county. <br />The budget for Forest Conservation Work to be administered through the <br />North Carolina Departnent of Conservation and Development was presented by <br />personal from the District Forester's Office. <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:00 o'clock p.m. <br />Donald Stanford, Chairman <br />S. C. <br />The purpose of this meeting 1s to discuss the 1961-62 budget session. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, <br />Clarence D. Jones, Donald McDade and Henry Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />After idscussion Commissioner Bennett moved the following persons be <br />appointed to the membership of the Greater Chapel Hill Planning Board: <br />Jack Lesley for a term of 5 years <br />Jim Wallace for a term of 4 years <br />Edward Burns for a term of 3 years <br />Jim Lalanne for a term of 2 years <br />Walter Spearman for a term of 1 year
