2219 <br />Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />June 20, 1,961. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 20, 1961, at <br />7:30 o'clock p. m. in the Commissioners room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. <br />The Purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 1961-62 budget session. <br />The following agencies were heard: <br />The Orange County Historical Museum <br />The District Health Department <br />The County School System <br />Commissioner Jones moved the following resolution be adopted; ati we have <br />'currently in the County School capitol outlay budget the sum of $10,000, unexpended <br />as of this date, which sum was appropriated to icy land at Central High School and <br />to do certain paving work at Central High School and Cameron Park School, and <br />verses this paving cannot be completed prior to the end of this fiscal year and <br />arrangements to purchase this land will not be completed by the end of this fiscal <br />year. Upon request of the County Board of Education the board declares the <br />aforementioned am of $10,000 and encumbered balance for these purposes alone and <br />that this $10,000 be transferred from the appropriation account to a miscellaneous <br />account and carried forward to the 1961-62 fiscal year. <br />Commissioner Bennett gave a second to the motion and when Chairman Stanford <br />called for a vote there were 5 eyes and 0 noes. <br />The following petition was given to the Board of Commissioners by the members <br />of the Greater Chapel Hill Fire Diatrict Commission. <br />"We, the undersigned members of the Greater Chapel Hill Fire Protection District <br />Commission, in accordance with the provisions of Section 60-25.11 (a) of the General <br />Statutes of North Carolina, as emended by Chapter 302, Session Laws of 1957, and <br />upon application of a majority of the owners of property in the territory hereinafter <br />described, do hereby unanimously recommend to your Honorable Boards that the following <br />described territory be added to the present territory of said District: <br />Block A: and B. comprising thirty-two (32) lots in the North Forest <br />Hills Sub-division, according to a plat registered in Plat Book 7, page <br />38, in the Register of Deeds' Office in Orange County, which subdivision <br />adjoins the Greater Chapel Hill Fire Protection District at the <br />boundary of the district. <br />We respectfully request that your Honorable Boards approve thi.e recommendation, <br />in order that, upon such approval, the territory of the District be enlarged, as <br />provided in the cited statute, to include the above-described territory. <br />We further request that, upon such approval, the Board of County Commissioners <br />levy the fire protection district tax upon the property included in this territory in <br />the fiscal year next following after such approval, and that the Board of Aldermen <br />furnish fire protection to the territory immediately upon such approval in the same <br />fashion as it now protects property in the present District, under contract of <br />September 10, 1956. <br />June 17, 1961 /s/ John Alexander MCHahon <br />omm as .oner <br />/a/ E. This motion <br />received a second from Commissioner Bennett. Chaiiman Stanford called for a vote <br />and there wem 5 ayes and 0 noes.
