1 <br /> APPROVED 3/24/2020 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> February 25, 2020 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a joint meeting with the Chapel Hill- <br /> Carrboro Board of Education and Orange County Board of Education on Tuesday, February 25, <br /> 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Penny Rich and Commissioners Jamezetta <br /> Bedford, Mark Dorosin, Sally Greene, Mark Marcoplos, Earl McKee and Renee Price <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESENT: Chair Mary Ann Wolf, Joal <br /> Broun, Rani Dasi, Amy Fowler, Deon Temne <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO BOARD OF EDUCATION ABSENT: Ashton Powell and Jillian <br /> LaSerna <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESENT: Chair Will Atherton, Dr. Steve <br /> Halkiotis, Brenda Stephens, Hillary MacKenzie, Tony McKnight, Matthew Roberts and Sarah <br /> Smylie <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION ABSENT: Dr. Steve Brantley Halkiotis <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO SCHOOLS (CHCCS) STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Pam <br /> Baldwin, Patrick Abele, Assistant Superintendent, Support Services, <br /> ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS (OCS) STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Monique Felder, <br /> Sara Pitts, Director of Environmental Health and Safety and Rhonda Rath, CFO. <br /> Chair Rich called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m., and highlighted the history of the <br /> Whitted Building, and the large meeting room, which she said is in high demand. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin asked if a conversation, about the contract issue at CHCCS <br /> could be added at the end of the meeting, under item #6. <br /> Chair Rich noted the following items at the participants' places: <br /> Agenda Item #3 — Revised Attachment 2a <br /> Agenda Item #3 — Revised attachment 2b <br /> Agenda Item #7- Information Item — New <br /> Item #3- SAPFO- 2 additional slides <br /> Additional Benefit information <br /> CHCCS Chair Wolf said her board appreciates being here tonight, and thanked the <br /> Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for the opportunity to meet. She said the two school <br /> boards have done a good job collaborating, which has been a wonderful experience that will <br /> hopefully make this evening's presentation more cohesive. <br /> OCS Chair Atherton thanked his board for all of its hard work and collaboration with the <br /> County and CHCCS. <br /> Introductions were made of all present. <br />
