1!O -:inutes pf the Board of Commissioners <br />April 20, 1960 <br />The Orange County Board of Comdssinears met in adjourned session on 'iced., April 20, 1960, at <br />ten o'clock: a.m. in the Commissioners' room at. the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. V. <br />'.embers present: Chairman R. J• E. Hobbs, Cm.mi-,sioners Clarence Jones, Donald dcDade, Donald <br />5tanford and Henry Talker. _ <br />iwembers absent: done <br />Representatives of the State Highway Commission presented a tentative road program for the <br />1960-1961 fiscal year. After considerable discussion of the program Commissioner Stanford <br />moved the Board approve the tentative program. Commissioner 1cDade gave a second to this <br />motion. Chairman Hobbs called for a vote there were 4 ayes and 0 nayes. Chairman Hobbs <br />then declared tine motion passed and approved. <br />The following road petitions were approved and the Clerk was requested to forward same <br />to the State Highway Commission. <br />1. Road located in Hillsboro Township runs from old ,F10 highway back- to old /)10 highway, same <br />is a loop road located in the subdivision of Orange Hei-,hts. <br />2. Road located in Hillsboro Township runs from railroad north and known as Murrary Avenue <br />in West Hillsboro. <br />3. Road located in Hillsboro Township frown from intersection of Dimocks Bill road at bridge <br />to end of paving at water plant and is kno:m as old 110 from Hillsboro to Efland. <br />A letter from Clyde C. Carter, Secretary o: the County Board of Elections, was read by Chairman <br />Hobbs. Said letter stated "that the County Board of Elections would not attend the meeting of <br />the County Board of Commissioners at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 19600' <br />There being no further' business this meeting was adjourned to meet again on Thursday, <br />April 21, 1960, to canvass the election returns from the Special Election held in the 'dhite <br />Cross School District on Tuesday, April 19, 1960, <br />R. Gattis <br />Acting Clerk <br />minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />April 21, 1960. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Thursday, April 21, 1960, <br />at eleven o'clock a.m. in the Commissioners) room at tine courthouse in Hillsboro, H, C. <br />member's present: Chairman R. J. m, Hobbs, Commissioners Donald STcDade and Donald Stanford. <br />Hembers absent: Commissioners Clarence Jones and Henry Walker. <br />This meeting was called for the purpose of canvassing the votes cast in the County of the - <br />Special Election held in the White Cross Precinct on the question of the enlargement of the <br />Chapel Hill City Administrative unit and school tax of the same rate. <br />!delvin Lloyd, Registrar' of said precinct, presented to the Board the results of said election <br />alon; writh the proper forms signed by the said registrar and judSes of said election. <br />The reports shamed that five hundred and thirty. eight (538) persons. registered in said precinct, of <br />this number two hundred and three (203) votes were cast FOR enlargement of the Chapel Hill City <br />Administrative Unit and School Tap of the sane rate and three hundred and two (302) votes were cast <br />AGARIST_ enlargement of the Chanel Hill City Administrative Unit and School Tax of the same rate. <br />Err. Lloyd presented a bill for his service as registrar which was ai$teen (15-) days service <br />at fifteen dollars par day and the judges rare awarded ten dollars (;10.00) each far their'.service. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned. <br />R, J, L.
