Creation of the <br />larger node is to be accomplished by two Comprehensive Plan amendments, CP-1-01 and <br />CP-2-01: <br />CP-1-01 involves expanding the node by 190 acres by including two distinct areas of roughly <br />equal size: Area 1 and Area 2. Both areas are contiguous to the I~0/Old NC 86 EDD, but <br />separate from each other. Area 1 is on the east side of the EDD while Area 2 lies to the <br />north. Because of their physical separation, varying site features, and different land use <br />categories under the current plan, the areas are addressed separately in the staff analysis. <br />CP-2-01 involves the creation of a 60 acre Econamic Development Activity Node composed <br />of three separate areas. Area 3a (41.51 acres) is focused on the south side of the I-85/NC <br />86 interchange and along Old NC 10; area 3b (5.34 acres) is located in the northeast <br />quadrant of the interchange; and area 3c (12.95 acres) is located on the north side of Old <br />NC 10 east of area 3a.
