101 <br />Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />October 5, 1959 <br />The Orange County Board of Coomieeloaera met in regl4ar session on Monday, October 5> 1959, <br />at ten dclock a.m. in the Commissionera~ ro® at tna courthouse in Hillsboro, N, C. <br />Members present: Chariman R. J. M. Hobbs. Commissioners Clarence Jones, -onald McDade, <br />Donald Stanford and Henry Walker. <br />Membara Absent: None <br />The minutes oL the previous meetings were read by the Clerk and approved by the Board. <br />The following Department Officials presented reports for the month of September, 1959: <br />Frank Frederick, Delinquent Tax Collector <br />C. D. Knight, Sheriff <br />Bonnie Davin, Negro Aomo Demonstration Agent and <br />Sane Parker, Welfare Supt. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Jones, seconded by Cosmdssicner Stanford, and unanimously adopted <br />the County Accountant leas authoxlzerl. to pay took. W. Graham,. 1r„ Cleric of ~Huper'ioi' Cdurt of <br />Gram111e County the amount of $24.52 for the commitment of Wxs. teary Anna Wynne Lawrence and <br />Thomas Francfa Roberts to the John W. IInstead State Hospital. <br />Upon motion of Comaiseioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner 1eDade, and unanimously adopted <br />the Tax Collectors settlement and levy fm 1958 was accepted, except for the f1na1 audit <br />which would be avbmitted at a later data by the i4, M. Russ Compm{y of Ralelght, N. C. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Stanford, seconded by Commissioner Jones, and unanimously adopted, <br />the Delinquent Tax Collector was directed to begin collections on the land sale accounts. <br />Upon motion of Comnisaioner McDade, seconded by Commissioner Jones, and unanimously adopted, <br />the Comity Accountant was authorized to proceed with the repairing 'of the Veteran~e Service <br />Officer ~a .office:. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned with plena to meat again on <br />Wed., October 21at~ with the representatives of the State Highsq Co®i.esion. <br />Betty June i~yea <br />Clark <br />R. Hobbs <br />Chnirmaa <br />Minutes of the Hoard of Commissioners <br />October 21, 1959 <br />The Orange County Hoard of Comissioners met in adjourned seeslon on Wad., October 21, 1959, <br />at ten o~clock a.m. in the Commiseionera~ room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. <br />Mombera present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald McDade, <br />Donald Stanford and Henry Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />The purpose of this meeting was to hear a spacial report from the State Highway Commission <br />concerning the secondary road program in the county. <br />After reporting the progress made on the 19,5h-1959 and the 1959-196G secondary road <br />program T. A. 5urton advised the Commissioners that L. H. Gutner, the Districe Engineer since <br />1942 would be leaving this position and the C. C. Painter would assume Mr. Gunter~a post. <br />Chairman Nobbe expressed the regrets of the Hoard at ar. Gunter~s leaving and bide beat <br />wishes to him far much success in his nen posltioa. <br />1'he County Accountant delivered to the Board the final audit repm^t al the W. M. Huss <br />Compagy of Raiei gh, N, C. <br />After a short discussion the report the Accountant recommended that the suggestion of the <br />suitors relating to the Mebane School District Fund on pages 5 and 6 of said report be put into <br />affect. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ptalkaz, seconded by Cammiseioner Jones, and unanimously adopted <br />the County Acconntant was directed to write off the books $L,006.03 in reaerva to offset and <br />liabi]ity arising for the Mebane School District debt and the $370.25 in the liebene School <br />District account shall be transferred to the General Fund Surplus. <br />Thorn being no futher business this meeting was ad,~ourned. <br />R.
