1:"~S <br />M1m:tea of the Hoard oT Commissioners <br />August 3, 1959 <br />The Orange County Hoard oP Commissioners mat in regular session on Monday, August 3, 1959, at <br />t® o~clock a.m. in the Co®i.ssioners: room at the courthouse 1a Hillsboro, N, C. <br />Members present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald McDade, <br />Donald Stanford and Henry Walker. <br />Members absent: Nona <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were reed by the Clerk and approved by the Hoard after a <br />taw minor corrections. <br />The following Department Officials presented reports for the month of July, 1959. <br />Frank Frederick, Delinquent Tax Collector <br />E. M. ISynch, Clerk of Court <br />Cashe Boggs, County Dog Warden <br />Bonnie Davis, Negro Home Demonstratlon Agent <br />Walter Wrenn, Veterans Service Officer and <br />Jane Parker i4elfaze Supt. <br />Mrs. Parker brou;ht to the attention of the Board a matter concerning Joe Ashley, who is an <br />old age recipient. Mr. Ashley had requested permiealon to sell certain portions of his <br />property which ie now covered by a county lien. The Board agreed to have acme oT its members <br />inspect Mr. Aehley:s property in order to ascertain the proper value of same. <br />A letter from Pearson Stavmrt, Vice President in charge of Planning, for tho Research Triangle <br />Park, was read by Chairman Hobbs. Mr. Stewart requested that the Board appoint a representative to <br />serve on the Research Triangle Regional Plm:ning Commission. <br />IIpon motlon of Commissioner McDade, seconded by Commissioner Walker, axml unanimously adopted <br />Don S. Matheson was appointed to serve a 4 year term effective July 1, 1959, on the He search <br />Triangle Regional Planning Commission. <br />Jesse S. Neville of Chapel Hill requested that a culvert Which was installed sweral years <br />ago by the State Fitghway Commission on his farm be raised to insure proper drainage. Mr. Neville <br />lnformed the Hoard that he had made a sLd.lar request about two years ago but ae of this data <br />nothing bad been done to remedy the ei.tuntion. Co~i.ssianer Walker suggested that the Higlxnxp <br />Commission ba contented and urged that Mr. Neville~a problem should have proper consideration <br />and if possible he should be given some relieve of the sltuation w61c6 new exist. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meat again on Thursday, August <br />13th for the purpose oL canvassing the vote which 1s being Geld on Tuesday, August Sl.tb, im <br />the Whito Cross Community to determine whether or not the White Crass School District will <br />join with the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit. <br />H. Hobbs <br />Chairmen <br />June Hayes <br />Minutes of the Hoard of County Commissioners <br />August l.), 19$9 <br />The Orange County Hoard of Comml.astonere met 1n adjourned session on Thursday, August 19, <br />1959, at 11 oblock a.m. in the Commisaioners~ room at the courthouse in Hillsborq N. C. <br />Members present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald McDade, <br />Donald Stanford and Henry Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />The purpose of this meeting was to canvass the returns of the special election which was <br />Geld on Tvesdap, August ll., 19$9, in the White Cross School District. <br />Mrs. Thomas Y. Teer, Registrar of said election, was present and rendered her report to <br />the Hoard. At the conclusion of her report Commissioner McDade moved that the report be <br />accepted. This motion received a eeond from Commissioner Stanford. Chairman Hobbs observing <br />the faAt that the time for the carcass was at hand sad that ao persons were present to object <br />to the report of the IIegistrar called for a vote upon the matiea. There were 4 ayes and O nayea. <br />Chairman Hatibs than declared the motion duly passed. <br />The County Accountant was inatxucted to forward the bill aulm.itted by Mrs. Teer and the <br />other officials of said election to the Supt, of the Chapel Full School Poard. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned. <br />R.
