1 <br /> APPROVED 09/03/2019 <br /> MINUTES <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> June 4, 2019 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, June 4, <br /> 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Penny Rich and Commissioners Jamezetta <br /> Bedford, Mark Dorosin, Sally Greene, Earl McKee, Mark Marcoplos, and Renee Price <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below.) <br /> Chair Rich called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> Chair Rich noted the following items at the Commissioners' places: <br /> - PowerPoint for Item 4-c Voluntary Agricultural Districts <br /> - PowerPoint (one PowerPoint) for Items 4-d, e, f <br /> - PowerPoint for Item 5-c <br /> - PowerPoint for Item 6-a <br /> Chair Rich said she received a request to move 8-f forward to after item 4-b. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Marcoplos to move item 8-f up to after item 4-b because the property is in attendance. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> Chair Rich acknowledged the public charge. <br /> Arts Moment <br /> Tinka Jordy, Arts Commission member, introduced the artist: <br /> Dee Stribling is a poet focusing on culture and landscape. Her poems are tributes to friends and <br /> places embodying the strength, struggle, and beauty of rural and small town settings. The <br /> author of several poetry chapbooks, recent publications include poetry in this spring's edition of <br /> NC Coastwatch. In addition to poetry, she's currently working on a memoir about her childhood, <br /> a documentary about a very special softball team, and a children's book. She enjoys mixing up <br /> a Ph.D. in Geography, and 30+ years at SAS Software with a passion for helping others find <br /> their poetry and writing path. <br />
