ID. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones, Donald fi`,cDade, <br />Donald Stanford and Henry Ylali<er, <br />Members absent: Hone <br />This meeting ryas held for the purpose of discussing h ~r to compose the membership of a <br />committee to sudy school financdng and other needs threughout the county. <br />Ross Porter of the Doaz'd of Education moved this coimni.ttce be composed of live ($) <br />members one (1) chosen from each of tho follor;in boards: County Hoard of Commissioners, <br />County Board of Education and Doard of l7ustees of the Chanel Bill Administrative Unit, Citizens <br />Committee for the Imorovement of County School Systemp Citizens Committee 1'or the Improvement <br />oi' the Chapel Rill Aaministrative Unit, <br />Ibis motion died for lack oi' a second. <br />Most of the fifteen persons present cxpx es sed tholr views as to bor. to compose this <br />committee, <br />Grey Cul6zeth of the Chanel Hill Aanuni str ative Unit moved this committee be composed <br />of fifteen (15) persons selected o;~ the Boazd of County Commissioners from a list of names <br />suggested in the letter to the Board of County Coradssioners from the County Doazd o1 <br />Education concernin;; this subject. Said letter w2s dated December oi' 195d, Mr. Culbreth's <br />motion was seconded by Hoss 'totter. - <br />After considerable discussion of the motion on the floor Chairman 6obbs called for a <br />vote and thew were 1h ayes and 0 Hayes, <br />She joint meeting eras adjourned. <br />Continuing in this session the Hoazd of Commissioners were presented a two (2) year <br />contract for the employment of Mrs. Fay Bidet as Court Reporter at a salazy of 5100.00 <br />per creek plus expense estimated to run at $30.00 to SL0.00 per reek. Commissioner Stanford <br />moved for the contract to be accepted. Cormds siomer McDade seconded this motion. Chairman <br />Hobbs called for a vote. There rere L ayes and 0 (ryes. <br />The resignation of Bill Richmond as Delinquent Tar. Collector r:as received and accepted. <br />the County Accountant and the Tar. Collector recommended Erank Roderick be appointed for <br />the position of Delinquent Tax Collector, CormSSSionez Stanford moved ti;at Mr. Frederick. <br />be appointed. Commissioner' McDade seconded the motion.
