<br /> <br />MOU PSAP Agreement <br /> <br /> <br />This agreement made this 7th day of December, 2016 by and between Orange <br />County Communications, the “PSAP” and “Backup PSAP, and Alamance County <br />Communications, the “Interim Backup PSAP”, and collectively known as the <br />“parties”. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the installation of the Enhanced 9-1-1 telephone system will <br />provide one common number to call to receive public safety assistance and is <br />intended to assure the caller that his/her request for assistance will be <br />answered and that the appropriate emergency response agency will be <br />notified as a result of dialing 9-1-1; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the parties desire to formalize an arrangement whereby 9-1-1 <br />calls are properly routed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is understood that in the event that 9-1-1 calls are unable to be <br />answered by the PSAP, all calls will be temporarily routed to the Interim <br />Backup PSAP until the PSAP has the Backup PSAP staffed; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE I. General Purpose <br /> <br />It is the purpose of this Agreement to establish certain procedures for <br />handling 9-1-1 calls between the PSAP and the Interim Backup PSAP in the <br />event that the PSAP is unable to receive or transfer its 9-1-1 calls. <br /> <br />ARTICLE II. Definitions (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143B-1417) <br /> <br />A. Public safety answering point (PSAP). -- The public safety agency that <br />receives an incoming 911 call and dispatches appropriate public safety <br />agencies to respond to the call. <br /> <br />B.
