Orange County Board of Commissioners 17 52 <br /> MARK DOROSIN,CHAIR d Office p <br /> PENNYRIGH, VICE CHAIR Post Office Box 8181 <br /> BARRYJACOBS <br /> EARL MGKEE 200 South Cameron Street <br /> MIA RENEE RICE Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278 <br /> RENEE PR1GE <br /> MARK MARCOPLOS <br /> DECLARATION <br /> OF AN ORANGECOUNTY <br /> STATE OF EMERGENCY <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County has experienced significant impacts from Hurricane Michael, which <br /> brought heavy rain and dangerous winds to Orange County; and <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of the above-described disaster, I have determined that Orange County has <br /> sustained widespread or severe damage, injury, loss of life or property, and disruptions to essential <br /> services and systems: <br /> Section 1, Pursuant to the Orange County's Code of Ordinances, Part I, Chapter 14, Article 11, Sec. <br /> 14-31, and as authorized by Chapter 166A of the North Carolina General Statutes, a <br /> State of Emergency is hereby declared within the jurisdiction of Orange County, North <br /> Carolina. <br /> Section 2. By request of the mayors or their appointed representatives, this declaration includes the <br /> incorporated jurisdictions of the Towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. <br /> Section 3. 1 hereby order all County law enforcement officers, employees, and all other emergency <br /> response personnel subject to the authority of the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners to cooperate in the enforcement and implementation of the provisions of <br /> the Orange County Emergency Operations Plan and other relevant County Ordinances. <br /> Section 4. 1 hereby authorize the Orange County Emergency Coordination Center to continue <br /> activation for as long as required. <br /> Section 5. 1 hereby authorize the Orange County Manager to take appropriate protective action, <br /> including implementing prohibitions, restrictions, evacuations, and curfews in order to <br /> maintain public order or afford adequate protection for lives, safety or property as <br /> needed. <br /> Section 6. The Orange County Manager is further directed to: (a) distribute this declaration to the <br /> news media and other organizations calculated to bring its contents to the attention of the <br /> general public; (b) file this declaration with the Clerk to the Orange County Board of <br /> www.orangecount nc.gov <br /> Protecting and preserving—People, Resources, Quality of Life <br /> Orange County, North Carolina— You Count! <br /> (999)245-2930 o FAX(999) 644-0246 <br />
