J6 <br />Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />I4arch 3, 1958 <br />Ths Orange County Board of Commissioners met 1n regular session on i•1onday, <br />I•farch 3, 1958, at 10 o'clock A. i9, in the Commissioners' room at the Courthouse in <br />Hillsboro, <br />14embers present: Chairmen R. J, hl. Hobbs, Commissioners Donald McDade, Donald <br />Stanford and henry Walker, <br />I4embers absent: Commissioner Dwight 13. Reg. <br />The minutes of the February meeting were road by the Clerk and approved by the <br />Board. <br />Bruce White, Attorney, from Durham, appeared as spokesman for Coland J, Riley <br />and other interested citizens of the West Hillsboro area, in opposition to the <br />petition previously submitted by James Faucette to close a road desigh aced as "Piney <br />Lane". The Board declined to witharaw or close said "Pineg Lane" since opposition <br />was presented to said closing. <br />Jack Layne, representative of the Federal Alcoholic and Tobacco Tax IInit <br />appeared and requested that the policy of the Sheriff's Department governing the <br />dish asition of seized articles and the statutes under which the Sheriff's Department <br />acted be sent to him at Hu=hcm, ~t, C. <br />The following department officials made reports for the month of February, 1958: <br />Ode11 Clayton, Sheriff <br />4!¢lter Wrenn, Ve ter ens' Service Officer <br />Jessie Trowbridge, Home Demonstration Agent <br />E, i•1. Lynch, Clerk of Oourt <br />Jere Parker, Welfare Sup arintendant <br />The following rood petition was presented: <br />A road in Cedar Grove and Cheeks Township, running from the Alamance County <br />line to the old Oren re County Home and known ¢s High Rock Road, Length of road: <br />6.4 miles, <br />IIn on motion of Commissioner Stanford, seconded by Commissioner i4cUade and unani- <br />mously passed, the Clerk was requested to write a letter of endorsement on the High R <br />Hood petition. <br />Upon motion of Conanlssi oner Btani"ord, seconded by Comuni ssi oner McDade end unani- <br />mously passed, tae tax supervisor was authorized to refund to 'Phillips Petroleum <br />Company `:iSS •9S and to August Bender ~j114,76 from the Emergency Fluid, assessments in <br />error as buildings on nrooerty were not comple tad until after January 1, 1957• <br />5. ;9.
