ti <br /> 1 <br /> ■ 3 <br /> 1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD O CONMISSIONERS <br /> PR OCLAIL4 TI <br /> SENIOR CENTER WEEK <br /> WHEREAS, Local communities supper over 12,000 Senior Centers <br /> in the United States, and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County has recognized the importance of Senior <br /> cntcrs and has provided leadership in the development <br /> and operations of such fatiiities in the County, and <br /> WHEREAS, Senior Ccntcrs affirm the dignity, 6elf worth and <br /> indtund nce of older pins by facilitating their <br /> decisions and knowledge, and enabling their continued <br /> contribution to the community, and, <br /> WHEREAS, Encouraged and supported by the Older America Act, <br /> Senior Centers function as service delivery focal points, <br /> help older persons to help themselves and each ulbera <br /> . . and offer opportunities to become physically active, <br /> mentally challenged, emotionally supported and socially <br /> my Dived, aria, <br /> WHEREAS, The month of May has hiEturically been proclaimed <br /> Older Americans Month, and communities across the <br /> country are giving special recognition to older persons <br /> and the role of Senior Centers in serving them <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Orange County Board of Cornmissioncrs, do herby <br /> PROCLAIM the week of May 12 through May 18, 2002 as <br /> SENIOR CENSER WEEK <br /> AND, Further, do call upon the people of Orange County to honor older Americans <br /> and the SenioT Centers that bring together activities and sic 10 their benefit <br /> Barry Jacobs, Chair <br /> O Orange may Board of Commissioners <br />
