Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Steve Halkiotis <br /> and Board Members Brenda Stephens, Donna Coffey, Matthew Roberts, Tom Carr, Tony <br /> McKnight and Superintendent Todd Wirt and Deputy Superintendent Pam Jones were also <br /> present. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS ABSENT: Michael Hood <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS PRESENT: <br /> Vice Chair Dani Rasi and Members Annetta Streater, Joal Broun, Pat Heinrich, Andrew <br /> Davidson, Margaret Samuels and Superintendent Baldwin, and Assistant Superintendent Todd <br /> LoFrese were also present. <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS ABSENT: <br /> Chair James Barrett <br /> DURHAM Tech: President, William G. Ingram, Executive Dean for Orange County <br /> Operations, Penny Glick <br /> Chair Dorosin called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> Welcome and Opening Remarks <br /> Rani Dasi said that James Barrett was out of town, and not available to attend tonight. <br /> Rani Dasi thanked the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for its willingness to <br /> meet, and introduced the new Superintendent of Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS), <br /> Dr. Pamela Baldwin. <br /> Rani Dasi thanked Todd LoFrese and staff for their work on this year's budget. <br /> Rani Dasi listed CHCCS priorities for this year: equity, mental health, fiscal <br /> management, investment in teachers and staff, community partnerships, and facility <br /> improvements. She said as CHCCS focuses its efforts, it faces two issues: state education <br /> funding changes and structural changes in the district. She said the current state education <br /> funding levels, including inflation, are lower than the amount provided in 2008, although the <br /> number of students has increased. She said this decline in state support puts an increased <br /> burden on local governments. She said CHCCS is continually grateful for the support of the <br />
