~~~~~ Minutss of the Hoard of County Commis inners <br />June 13th, 1955. <br />The Hoard of Commissioners of Orange County met in the Commissioner's <br />room of the courthouse on Monday, Tune 13th, at 7: 30. o. m. with all members <br />being present. <br />Tha purpose of the meet inn was to study t're proposed budget for 1955-56. <br />The Hoard set hearings with the County School Board, Orange County ~~ <br />tYelfare Deoar tment and the Chapel H111 Adminlst rs tive Unit on June 20th, <br />22nd and 27th, respectively. <br />Aftez setting these heari n¢ the Board continued Sts budget study until <br />11 p. m. then ad,j ournad. <br />R. I <br />"To the Tlo rth Carolina State Department of Conservation and De volopment J <br />and/ar To YR~om It Stay Concern: <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County, North Carol Sna, in <br />formal session this the 15th day of June, 1955, declares and certl ties, as a <br />matter of record, as follows: <br />1. It is the policy of this Board to encourage the expansion of <br />agricultural and indust rill ac tl vi ties in Orange County; <br />2. That this Board belle ve s, Sn stn tin¢ that poll cy, that it is <br />exp ressinz the •,vi 11 and desire of the people of Orange County. <br />3. Th¢t thSs Eoard, renras anti nrr the peoplo of Orange County, not only <br />wants to but cri 11 encourage !n every luny feasible end legal, the expansion <br />oC present earicul total and industrial actl vi ti es in this County; and that <br />this Board welcomes to Orange County additl oval industrial nlante of a <br />desirable and Dermanent type -- for which Oranee County in many respect is <br />an Sd eel location. <br />l}. That this Board declares as a matter of record that it will, within <br />its 1e aa1 Dowers, undertal=e to install or secure the ins to llatlon oC a sewer <br />out-Tall line of not more that. 8" in diameter end a water line of not more <br />than B" Sn diameter to any new industrial site Sn Oran¢a County, nrovid ad: <br />(a) Thst the County of Orange is offic Sally assured that a <br />firm commitment has been made to build on the site; <br />(b) That tho site is not more th¢n 2 miles from the <br />corporate limits of Oranae County municipality; <br />(c) That the 3ndus try be a well known and permanent type; I <br />(d) That the 6uildl ng, or buildings, be constructed of ~- <br />permanent ma terlals (masonry) <br />(e) That the building and machinery equipment therein ha vo <br />a reasonable appraisal value of not less than ~2, 000, 000.00; <br />(f) That the industry 1n operation be one which does not <br />give off noxiosss fumes and odors and does not yield larger <br />quantities of industrial wastes Snto the sewer sya tam or <br />into open streams, <br />5.
