T~l~ L1lnutea of the Hoard of Commissioners <br />Monday, April S, 1954 ,. <br />The Board of Corm¢i ssioners for the County of Orange, State of North <br />Caroline, met on Monday, Apr 11 5, 1954, at 10 o~clock .4. ti, in the Commissions s~ <br />Room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro, the usunl place of meeting. <br />Members present: Chairman R. 0. Forrest, end Commissioners Sim L. Efland ., ~ <br />end R. T. td. Hobbs. <br />Members absent: None. <br />Patrolman T. P. Smith appeared on behalf of the Orange County State High- <br />way P¢trol and ask for an office in the new courthouse. <br />The Aos r3 of Education ¢nd representatives from the League of 'iJomen <br />Voters appeared and discussed the purchase of oroper~ty for Carrboro School. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Hobbs, eaconded by Commissi oner Efl.and, the <br />bronze pleaue to be placed in the Courthouse ie to be paid for out of the <br />Llnergency Fund. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Etland, seconded by Commisai oner Hohbs, the <br />following Aid to Blind Grants were approved: Sohn W. Atklnson, 3SS•00 per <br />month; Corine Atwater, E:16.00 par month; William Ben~amin Holt, from $32.00 <br />to 342.00 per month. <br />The following budget for P.Sd to Blind was presented by .Sias Annie Strowd, <br />Superintendent of Public .1lelfare, and upon motion duly m¢de and seconded, was <br />tentatively approved: <br />County - Orange <br />1954-1955 <br />AID TO THE BLIND BDDGET <br />Tentative Budget <br />A. The money derived from the <br />sale of said bonds to be used by the Orange County Hoe rd of Educe t±on.
