1 <br /> APROVED 4/5/2016 <br /> MINUTES <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> March 1, 2016 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, March 1, <br /> 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Building, in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair McKee and Commissioners Mia Burroughs, <br /> Mark Dorosin, Barry Jacobs, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> Chair McKee called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. <br /> 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> Chair McKee dispensed with the reading of the public charge <br /> 2. Public Comments <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> NONE <br /> b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br /> below.) <br /> 3. Petitions by Board Members <br /> Commissioner Price petitioned staff to work with the Sheriff's office for salary increases <br /> for the deputies and other employees of the Sheriff's office. <br /> Commissioner Burroughs had no petitions. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin had no petitions. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs petitioned the Board to support a resolution in support of the <br /> Charlotte City Council's fight for non-discrimination and to direct staff to look at bathrooms in <br /> County facilities that are unisex and have a changing table. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin suggested an addition to the above petition. He asked <br /> Commissioner Jacobs if he would consider asking the County attorney to investigate <br /> supporting the anti-discrimination ordinance. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said he is open, within reason, to any ideas that promote <br /> governments standing together. <br />
