Please <br /> do not exceed space provided. <br /> Orange County has recently completed a county-wide inventory of historic <br /> architecture and is currently surveying archaeological sites in the unincorporated <br /> portions of the county. The Historic Preservation Commission now seeks to publish <br /> the results of the inventory and include historic properties surveyed in the Towns <br /> of Chapel Hill' Cerrboro, Hillsborough, and Mebane' The publication will feature <br /> a description of the history of the county, chapters on architecture and archae- <br /> ology with individual entries for properties and sites listed during the survey. <br /> Text will be supplemented with black and white photographs and stories of the <br /> people associated with the sites. <br /> Publication of the inventory will produce o principal educational tool to <br /> inform Orange County residents and visitors of the County's cultural roaourcea. <br /> Historic and archaeological resources are irreplaceable if destroyed. Orange County <br /> is committed to identify and protect them by increasing the awareness of property <br /> owners, developers, and the general public. Protecting the heritage of the County <br /> and North Carolina can only enhance the quality of life for contemporary and <br /> future generations. <br /> g.
