:i ~a <br />N[inutes of the Board of Commi ssione ra <br />Vlednesday, February 7, 19$1 <br />An ad,j ourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Orange <br />County was held on the 7th day of February, 1951> et 8:00 o'clock p. m. in <br />the Courthouse in Hillsboro, North Cerolina, the regular place of meeting. <br />Present: Chairman Collier Cobb, Jr., H. G. Leers, and Sim L. Efl¢nd. <br />Absent: None. <br />The matter of additional contribution to the Hyconeechee Regional Library <br />2nc oroorated for the currant year ryes again brought to the attention of the <br />Hoard. After full discussion, un on motion of Commissioner Ef1¢nd, end seconded <br />by Cottmissioner Laws, the following resolution was edonted; <br />RESOLVED, That en additi anal contribution of $300.00 be made <br />to the Hyconeechee Regional Library Incorporated Sn the current yeer, <br />said contribution to be paid out of the General Fund Emergency An- <br />nronriations. <br />The Chairmen then stated that it was advisable at this time to discuss any <br />special legisle ti on for the county and to make such recommendations to the <br />General Assembly as the Board deemed necessary. <br />The matter of incre esing certain fees In the Register of Deeds office was <br />then discussed and t1r11 consido ration was given to the fees non chergod and to <br />the fees being charged Por like services in other counties. IIpon motion of <br />Commissioner Efl and, seconded by Commissioner Leers, the following resolution <br />eras edonted: <br />RESOLVED, That tho Board of Commissioners of Orange County <br />recommends to the General Assembly of North Cerolina that e special <br />act be enacted applicable to Orange County incre ¢sing fees for the <br />registret ion of certain papers in the office of the Register of <br />Deeds to the iollorvi ng amounts: Chattel mortgages, statutory, L,O~; <br />crop lien mortgages, long form, 75~; crop lien mortgages, short <br />form, 50yJ; deeds, regul ¢r, $1.50; deeds of trust, regular, e2.00; <br />canditi opal sales contract, X1.00; for all other long end Srrogular <br />instruments, $B0~ for the first 300 vrords and 1$~ for each addit ionel <br />100 words. That e feo of 50¢ be charged for affixing the official <br />seal of the Register of Deede to any instrument. <br />Uoon motion of Commissioner Laws, seconded by Commissioner Efland, the <br />foil owing resolution urea adontod: <br />RESOLVED, That the Board of Commissioners of Orange County <br />recommends to the General Assembly that ¢n Act be passed giving the <br />C ommi ssi oae rs of Orange County the right to postpone the revaluation <br />end reassessment of property es provided in G. S. Section 105-278 <br />for the yeer 19$1 & 52. <br />The matter of salaries for certain elective officials of Orange County was <br />then discussed by the Board. Upon motion of Commissioner Efl¢nd, seconded by <br />Cosvmissioner Lavrs, the following resolution wes unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLVED, T'nat the Board of Commissioners of Orange County here'oy <br />rec osuaends to the General Assembly that legislation be enacted adopt- <br />ing the following salary schedule, to be effective as of Docember 1, <br />19$0: Clerk of the Suoerior Court, $h200.00; Sheriff, .$3800.00; <br />Register of Deeds, .x,3600.00. <br />There being no further business to come before Che meeting, upon motion <br />duly made and seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned. <br />J.
