m-c ` Attachment 1 <br /> Draft Revised Personnel Ordinance <br /> Article III, Section 1.0, The Work Week <br /> CONDITIQNS OF EMPLOYMENT <br /> 1.0 j ,WEEK <br /> 1.1 The standard work week shall be from 12:01 a.m. Mondany until 12:00 midnight <br /> on Sunday,a time span of seven(7)consecutive twenty-four(24)hour periods. <br /> Exceptions may be granted by the County Manager in an effort to meet <br /> scheduling needs and be in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. <br /> 1.2 The County's business hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.,Monday <br /> through Friday. The department head sets a regular weekly work schedule <br /> for each employee to maintain the staffing needs for the department's full <br /> operation during the County business hours, and meet the operational needs <br /> of the department. Exception: Law Enforcement Officers and Emergency <br /> Management Services employees'work schedules are established by the <br /> respective department head and approved by the County Manager. <br /> The employee's work schedule is subject to the following conditions: <br /> ► A full time employee is regularly scheduled to work 40 hours each <br /> work week.* <br /> ► The regular work schedule must include at least a 30 consecutive <br /> minute meal period during which the employee is free from duty. <br /> • The department head or supervisor is responsible for the <br /> department's effective operation and supervision and security of <br /> employees during all time employees are scheduled to work. <br /> ► No employee will be regularly scheduled to work between the hours of <br /> 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. with the exception of employees in the <br /> Sheriff's Department and Emergency Management Services. <br /> 1.3 Each department is responsible for having a department work scheduling <br /> plan. The County Manager may periodically request each department to <br /> submit its work scheduling plan for review. <br /> * Except as provided for the Soil and Water Conservation District <br />
