ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br /> UNC WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAM WINNING THE <br /> 2013 NCAA LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> WHEREAS, on May 26, 2013, the University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team <br /> captured the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse National Championship; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under the guidance of Head Coach Jenny Levy, the UNC women's lacrosse team <br /> earned its first NCAA National Championship title; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Tar Heels completed the season in the longest NCAA women's lacrosse <br /> championship game in the history of the tournament, going into triple overtime; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the UNC women's lacrosse team finished the year with a 18-3 record; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Coach Levy continues to emphasize the importance of education for her college <br /> athletes when the team, in the spring of 2012, posted the best academic semester in <br /> its recorded history with a team GPA of 3.227; and, <br /> WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the Tar Heels have <br /> brought honor upon themselves, the University of North Carolina, Orange County <br /> and the State of North Carolina; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the University of North Carolina <br /> women's lacrosse team, for the Tar Heels' outstanding achievement, and for their <br /> inspiration to youth across the nation through their dedication, teamwork, and <br /> athletic prowess. <br /> This the fifth day of September 2013. <br /> af <br /> Barry Jacobs, Chair <br /> &AAL Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> D nna Baker, Clerk to the Board <br />
