The <br /> additional 5468,007 increases the amount available for day care spending in Orange County from$1,701,110 <br /> to$2,169,117. Currently,them are 634 children receiving day care assistance and these funds will allow the <br /> department to provide services for those children for the remainder of the year. There are 27 children on <br /> the waiting list. (see column#1,page 3) <br /> Health Department <br /> (2) The Environmental Division of the Health Department has received additional grant funding from the State. <br /> The first grant, totaling $1,080, will be used to develop a "Risk and Hazard Reduction Handbook" to be <br /> distributed to all day care operatoirs in the County. Examples of subjects covered in this handbook range <br /> from lead poisoning identification, insect bite first aid, and poison control information and telephone <br /> contacts. The second source of funds, a Food and Lodging grant in the amount of $988, will be used to <br /> purchase computer equipment and/or software for this division. This amendment accepts the funds from <br /> the State;no additional County funds=are required in order to receive them. (see column M2,page 3) <br /> (3) Additional State Immunization Action Plan W) moneys totaling$9,377 have been awarded to the Health <br /> Department.These funds will be combined with the original grant award of$24,369 bringing the total grant <br /> amount to $33,746. Grant moneys will off-set County costs of providing immunizations to children in <br /> Orange County. It is anticipated that more than 4,500 childhood vaccines will be provided through the <br /> Orange County Health Department this fiscal year.
