;i;i~ <br />ttinutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />Tuesday, January 3, 1950 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting January <br />3, 1950 in the Commissioners' roam at 10 o'clock in the Court House. Members <br />present were Collier Cobb, Jr., Chairman, Hen F. Ylilson and H. G, Laws, Commis- <br />sioners. <br />The mi Hates of the December meeting were road and approved. <br />Don S. hta theson, County Farm Agent, appeared and presented a short summary <br />of his annual report. Mr. Matheson reported that the trend in farm prices is <br />down. The prospects for additional rural telephones and rural fire protection <br />w8 re d19Cn99ed• <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Laws, duly seconded by Commissioner 7fi !son, <br />the tollowi^g resoluti.on was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLVED, That whereas, it has been made to appear to the <br />Board of Commissioners of Orange County that the Department of <br />Rural Social Economics at the Unive rai ty of North Carolina has <br />now in its custody a volume of the Records of the Ydardens of the <br />Poor of Orange County which is the property of Orange County, <br />and that the North Carolina State Department of Archives and <br />History desires the possession of the said volume which the De- <br />partment of Rural Social Economics rri 11 transfer upon the approval <br />and request of thSs Board. <br />NOYf, THEREFORE, this Hoard directs that the Department of <br />Rural Social Economics at the University of North Carolina transfer <br />and deliver the custody of the said volume to the North Carolina <br />State Department of Archives and History. <br />A road petition vras presented requesting that the State take into its high <br />way system one tenth (1/10) of s mile of road from Alamance County line to <br />Morrovr Mill Road. It was reported that this was a continuation of a petitioned <br />road Sn Alamance County. The Hoard approved the Orange County portion contin- <br />gent on tho Alamance County Board's aop roving the section petitioned in that <br />county. <br />The Chei rman informed the Board that the State Highvray and Public Works <br />Commission had allocated a total of 5.43 miles for the calendar pear of 1950• <br />To determine the net mileage available for the cu Arent gear, it will be neces- <br />sary to deduct the 1.17 miles overdraft for 1949, leaving a net of 4.26 miles <br />available. <br />idrs. Jean Heer, Superintendent of Public Welfare, Dr. 0. David Garvin, <br />County Health Officer, and G. T.
