An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Orange convened at the County Courthouse in Hillsboro, North Carolina, at <br />11 o'clock A. N., on November 25, 1949• <br />Present: Chairman Collier Cobb, Sr., and Commissioners H. G. Laws and Ben <br />P. Wilson <br />-- Absent: a <br />The members of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange sat at <br />the table at which the County Board of Elections was holding its meeting and <br />said County Board of Elections and said Board of Commissioners, as two separate <br />bodies, separately received from the registrars and judges of election in the <br />various precincts of the County of Orange the returns of the special bond elec. <br />tion held November 22, 1949• <br />After said returns had been canvassed by said Board of Commissioners, beir <br />simultaneously with the canvassing thereof by the County Board of Elections in <br />the same place, Commissioner Wilson introduced the following resolution, which <br />was read; <br />RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL BOND ELECTION <br />HELD NOVEMER 22, 1949 AND DETERMINING THE RESULT THEREOF. <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange: <br />Section 1. That the returns of the special bond election held Novem- <br />ber 22, 1949 having been received from the proper election officers and the <br />Board having canvassed the same, the following facts are hereby found and deter <br />mined: <br />(a) That each registrar and judge for the special bond election held <br />in the County of Orange on November 22, 1949 vies duly qualified by law and had <br />',. taken the necessary oath. <br />(b) That the election officers had incorporated in their returns not <br />only the number of votes cast for and against each question submitted, but also <br />the number of voters registered and qualified to vote in each precinct in the <br />election. - - <br />(c) That at said election there were submitted to the qualified vote: <br />of said County the following questions: <br />1. Shall an order finally passed October 17, 1.949, authorizing not <br />exceeding $1,000,000 School Building Bonds of Orange County for <br />the purpose of providing funds, with other funds available for <br />such purpose, for erecting additional school buildings, remodel- <br />. ing and enlarging existing school buildings and acquiring any <br />necessary land and equipment therefor, and a tax for said bonds, <br />be approved? - <br />2. Shall an order finally passed October 17, 1949, authorizing not <br />exceeding $250,000 Courthouse Bonds of Orange County for the <br />purpose of providing funds for erecting and equipping a new <br />courthouse upon the site now owned by said County near the pre- <br />sent courthouse, and a tax for said bonds, be approved? <br />Section 2.
