3`)6 Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />Monday, November 7, 1949 <br />The Board met at the usual hour in the Commissioners' Room at the Court- <br />house with all members present. <br />The minutes of the October meetings were read and approved. <br />Don S. Matheson, County Farm Agent reported on the dairy situation in the <br />County. He stated that there were 100 Grade "A" Daries in the County and en- <br />eral Grade "C ", which he hoped to get qualified as Grade "A ". He also stated <br />that 500 cows had been bred by artificial means the 1st year, and that ha <br />thought this visa going to help the dairy business a lot. He reported that the <br />Schley Grange Hall was almost complete and that it would be dedicated on Decem- <br />ber 6th. <br />Miss Virginia Cathay made a fine report on 4 -H Clubs and Home Demonstratio <br />work throughout the County. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Laws, duly seconded by C=issioner Wilson, <br />the following revisions were made in Aid to Blind cases. <br />Grant of Jessie Pratt was reduced from ^$24.00 per month <br />to $21.00 per month. <br />Julia Annie Fisher was added to Aid to Blind cases. The <br />amount of her grant being $°30.00 per month. <br />Road petitions, asking that the State Highway and Public Works Commission <br />take over and maintain the following roads, were presented: <br />Road running from Highway No. 54 at Morgan's Filling Station <br />to Arthur Lloyd's on Bethel Church Road. Length of road: 2 miles. <br />Road known as Goldston Avenue, which runs off of High Street <br />and is 600 feet in length. <br />Road at West Hillsboro running from the home of James Long to <br />Mrs. Lorena Moon's and known as the Cemetery Road. Length of <br />road: 3/4 mile. <br />The Board authorized Ira A. Ward to secure bids from the several Electrica -� <br />Appliance Dealers in the County on a standard electric range for the Jail. <br />On motion of Commissioner Wilson, duly seconded by Commissioner Laws at an <br />unanimously adopted the Board adjourned to meet at 11 o'clock A. M. on Friday, <br />November 25, 1949, for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the election <br />which will be held on November 22, 1949.
