Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> The Chair went through the items at the County Commissioners' places: <br /> - Pink sheet— revision to 4g - Resolution in Support of Smart Start and NC Pre K <br /> - White sheet - General Assembly Legislation - 2 amendments —4-g Resolution in <br /> Support of Smart Start and NC Pre K <br /> - Lime green sheet - from Orange County Peace Coalition ( matters not on the <br /> printed agenda) <br /> - White sheet - Letter for Item 7a - Whitted 2nd Floor "A" Building Permanent Board <br /> Meeting Facilities <br /> - White sheet - Orange County Cultural Center—Business Plan - 7a -Whitted 2nd <br /> Floor "A" Building Permanent Board Meeting Facilities <br /> - Item 6a- is deferred - Proposed 2012-2013 Secondary Road (SR) Construction <br /> Program for Orange County <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br /> 2. Public Comments <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> Hank Elkins, referring to the green handout sheet, spoke on behalf of the Orange <br /> County Peace Coalition. He said $480 million of taxpayer money has gone to Afghanistan and <br /> Iraq, which is $3500 for every person in the county. He said jobs have been created over <br /> there but questioned how many jobs have been created in Orange County. He compared the <br /> dollars invested in education versus the amount spent on military funding and said twice as <br /> many education jobs could have been created. He said the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners knows what Orange County needs — money for education; affordable housing; <br /> health; and entities that are investments in real security. <br />
