I'm speaking on behalf of a Steering Committee
that arose from an Art Summit that the Arts Council hosted in December of last year, also
known as the Cultural Center Committee. Over 70 people arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday
morning during the Christmas season to envision what the Town of Hillsborough's cultural life
could be like five years from now. This is the vision statement the group chose:
Our vision for Hillsborough by 2013 is to reach and serve every member of our
community by providing opportunities for expression, appreciation and participation with the arts
that will appeal to and engage members of the local and global community.
Towards that end, a Steering Committee, comprised of a broad coalition from our
community, was formed to implement this vision. Some members of that committee are here
