<br />APPROVED 611 212 0 0 7 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />April 24, 2007 <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, April 24, <br />2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Moses Carey, and Commissioners <br />Valerie P. Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, Barry Jacobs, and Mike Nelson <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONER ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Laura Blackmon, Assistant County <br />Manager Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker {All other staff members will be <br />identified appropriately below) <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br />AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br />1. Additions or Chances to the Agenda <br />Chair Carey suggested removing item 1 Q-b from the agenda regarding the Tethering Committee <br />(the Board was to receive information concerning the appointment and recent action of an <br />:animal Tethering Committee member} because it is a moot paint based on the information an <br />the pink sheet. <br />The lavender sheet is a resolution for item 4-j regarding Durham Tech. <br />The hot pink sheet is the Recreation and Park Director's response to the Manager <br />regarding Commissioner Cordon's request far information regarding the economic development <br />potential of the West Ten Soccer Complex. <br />The yellow sheet is information that will be addressed in the Manager's comments. <br />Chair Carey said that he has been asked to move item 6-b to before the consent agenda <br />because there are children present with same of the speakers for this item. The Board agreed <br />to move this item to 3-c. <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br />2. ProclamationslResolutionslSpecial Presentations <br />a. Proclamation Recognizing UNC Women's Soccer 2006 NCAA <br />Championship <br />The Board considered a proclamation recognizing the UNC women's soccer team for <br />winning the 2Q06 NCAA Women's National Championship and authorized the Chair to sign. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said that the County has had one of these recognitions before <br />and since there are young soccer players in attendance tonight, this is appropriate. <br />
