<br />APPROVED 311 312 0 0 7 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />February 6, 2007 <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, <br />February 6, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom in Hillsborough, North <br />Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Moses Carey, Jr. and Commissioners <br />Valerie P. Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, Barry Jacobs, and Mike Nelson <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Laura Blackmon, Assistant County <br />Managers Rod Visser and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff <br />members will be identified appropriately below) <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br />AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. ALL RECORDINGS OF THE MEETING WILL BE <br />KEPT FOR 5 YEARS. <br />1. Additions or Chanaes to the Aaenda <br />Chair Carey made reference to additional information from Social Services Director <br />Nancy Colton related to item 8-b. This will be read to the public when this item is addressed. <br />There was also additional information related to item 9-b, CHCCS Elementary School <br />#10. <br />The blue sheet is information from Commissioner Jacobs. Commissioner Jacobs <br />explained that a citizen called him to bring to his attention that the Sheriff of Alamance County is <br />very critical of Orange County's recent action regarding the immigration policy. This is just far <br />the Board's information. <br />The pink sheet is related to item 9-c-2, which is an addition to the applicants. <br />There was also some information from Commissioner Jacobs about an email from a <br />citizen who took issue with the qualifications of one of the people who applied for the Tethering <br />Committee. He had asked staff for more background information, and this information was what <br />was sent. <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge, <br />2. Public Comments <br />a. Matters not on the Printed Aaenda <br />Dale Simmons spoke about trying to get the Alamance County line reestablished. He <br />would like the Orange County Legislative Delegation to support this. He presented a <br />description of the townships and all of the counties around it, as well as a map of Alamance <br />County. <br />Chair Carey asked Dale Simmons to give the information to the County Manager. He <br />said that the County Commissioners will take his request under advisement and that Orange <br />
