APPROVED 511 612 0 0 6 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />March 2, 2006 <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Orange Caunty Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, March <br />2, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Barry Jacobs and Commissioners Moses <br />Carey, Jr., Alice M. Gordon, and Stephen Halkiotis <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Valerie P. Foushee <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant County <br />Managers Rod Visser and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br />Chair Jacobs said that Cammissianer Foushee wauld not be able to attend this meeting <br />due to a family obligation. <br />Chair Jacobs made reference to information from NCDOT, which was a letter from Mike <br />Mills. <br />There were also several additions to the consent agenda. The pink sheet is item 5-m <br />and the yellow sheet is 5-n. There was a printout of the PowerPoint presentation by OWASA, <br />which is item 7-b. The salmon sheet relates to item 9-a, which is the Orange County Park <br />Praject Status Report. Also, item 10-b is Buckhorn Road EDD Community Water/Sewer <br />Project. The aquamarine sheet is regarding the water levels. The Upper Eno reservoirs are full, <br />but Cane Creek and University Lake are below full. <br />Chair Jacobs reported that they would not be considering item 6-a because the Sheriff <br />was unable to attend. <br />Commissioner Carey said that he wants to hear mare about the Eno River Confluence. <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />The Chair dispensed wifh the reading of the public charge. <br />2. Public Comments <br />a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br />James Baxter is a resident of Dogwood Acres community and he presented a petition <br />(first page included in packet). He said that at the east end of Dogwood Acres Drive is the <br />proposed Southern Community Park, of which he supports. He said that the County approved <br />bonds to help fund the park in 1997 and 2001. He said that there are Chapel Hill Town staff <br />
