APPROVED 811 612 0 0 5 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 7, 2005 <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, June 7, 2QQ5 <br />at 7:3Q p.m. in the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Moses Carey and Commissioners Valerie <br />P. Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, Stephen Halkiotis, and Barry Jacobs <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill and S. Sean Borhanian <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant County <br />Managers Rod Visser and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff <br />members will be identified appropriately below) <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br />AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. ALL RECORDINGS OF THE MEETING WILL BE <br />KEPT FOR 5 YEARS. <br />1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br />Chair Carey asked to add a resolution to honor Mr. Tammy Leonard (pink sheet) after <br />the Manager's Comments and before the consent agenda. The Board agreed. <br />There was a revised abstract for item 9-d-2. <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br />2. Public Comments <br />a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br />Jim Dooley, representing the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce and <br />Hillsborough Hog Day, came to talk about Hog Day activities. The dates of Hog Day are June <br />17t" and 1$t". There will be a live concert on June 17t" from 6:QQ p.m. - 1Q:3Q p.m. while the <br />teams cook BBQ. The hours on Saturday are 9:QQ a.m. - 6:QQ p.m. He said that msn.com has <br />recognized Hog Day as one of the top ten things to do this summer. Also, "Our State" magazine <br />had a nice write-up about Hog Day. He gave a bag for Hog Day to each Commissioner. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis said that he read about the activities in "Our State" and he <br />thanked Jim Dooley for all of his work. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said that Coolidge Ball, one of the basketball pioneers of the <br />Southeastern Conference does hand-painted license plates and other signs, and is coming from <br />Oxford, Mississippi to Hag Day. <br />b.
