APPROVED 811612005 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING <br />May 31, 2005 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. <br />at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The purpose of this <br />meeting was to hold a public hearing on the County Manager's recommended 2005-2006 <br />budget. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Carey and Commissioners Valerie P. <br />Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, Stephen H. Halkiotis and Barry Jacobs <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant County <br />Managers Rod Visser and Gwen Harvey and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff <br />members will be identified appropriately below} <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE <br />PERMANENT AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br />The meeting began at 7:33 p.m. <br />1. Opening Remarks- Chair <br />Chair Carey asked that those signed up to speak strictly limit comments to no more than <br />three minutes and to minimize duplication. He also asked that the materials that have been <br />handed out be summarized instead of read because the County Commissioners will read the <br />information. <br />2.
