Public Comments
a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda
Ms. Beverly Foster, Chair of Healthy Carolinians of Orange County, said that in her role
with the Board of Health she began getting involved in Healthy Carolinians. The overarching
goal of Healthy Carolinians is to bring citizens and organizations of Orange County together to
improve the health of the community. At that time, the strong leadership of the County
Commissioners was instrumental. Since then, they have become recertified and have grown.
Today, ten years later, Healthy Carolinians of Orange County represent more than 80
individuals and 50 County agencies and organizations that work together. They are most
appreciative for the 50% support for this position from the County over the past few years.
They have also written grants to support projects in the community, such as the Youth
Tobacco Prevention Program. She left the newsletter, Healthy Happenings, with the County
Commissioners, along with an invitation to attend the annual meeting on April 5th from 6-8 p.m.
